Sun Earth Day 2012
This day is an annual part of our activities since many years. We want to show to our guests how important the relations and dynamics of our solar system are for our daily life on earth.
The importance and dimensions of our sun are so fascinating, that mankind in all cultures and every times were so impressed about it, that our sun is the central point of every ones life since up today.
We want to introduce all our guests to have a professional look to our central star. With telescopes and different wavelenghts we want to show the visible solar activities, like sunspots, flares and eruptions on the surface.
So we can learn a lot of new and interesting facts about our home star and we also learn to understand the complex relationship between sun and earth. Some small exhebitions and guided tours through our observatory may offer all interested people a multi purpose view to this system.
Come and see the sun, learn more about it and understand what the equinox and sun earth relation meens. Come and live the Sun Earth Day - at the Observatory of Riesa - Sternwarte Riesa.

Report about the final Space Shuttle Mission
from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. some members of the Sternwarte Riesa team are speakting about their trips to the last shuttle missions in florida. The Atlantis orbiter was the last space shuttle to lift off on 8th july from KSC in florida. A lot of pictures and videos were taken there and even a lot of adventures around space exploration, astronauts, original places and rockets are parts of this report. Enjoy the event in our observatory.

Riesa Starhour: "The Gasgiant Jupiter"

Great weekend of falling stars in Riesa
Great weekend of falling stars in Riesa
Starting from 6pm we will observe the draconid meteor shower at the gliding airfield in Canitz. Draconids so-named because its meteors appear to radiate from the northern constellation Draco.
Maximum of Zenithal Hourly Rate: ~ 600 meteors per hours
